and while #id might be confused with (deprecated syntax for) #object_id, then how about naming this method #dom_id?
lack of form.field_with(:dom_id => 'foo') (and workarounds using collection#detect) is killing me.

but I've already fixed it in this commit:
http://github.com/tenderlove/mechanize/commit/9bd24f5384b70913b5078b19eb275bbf1c566a25
that Tenderlove pulled in two days ago, so it will probably make its way into upcoming gem release :)
