What actually gets mounted is matrix_synapse_storage_path and the definitions are like this:
matrix-docker-ansible-deploy/roles/custom/matrix-synapse/defaults/main.yml
Lines 113 to 114 in bc7ed6b
You cannot leave matrix_synapse_storage_path as the default (/matrix/synapse/storage) and only change matrix_synapse_media_store_path to be outside.
Instead of overriding matrix_synapse_media_store_path in your vars.yml file, consider overriding only matrix_synapse_storage_path. Example:
matrix_base_data_path: "/srv/matrix"
-matrix_synapse_media_store_path: "/srv/data"
+matrix_synapse_storage_path: /srv/synapse-storage
matrix_homeserver_implementation: synapsefrom matrix-docker-ansible-deploy.
