When has anyone ever used a ripley to move crates in a spaced area? I understand the point of "if human can robot can" but it removes the one restriction for ripleys, wouldn't that make them more overpowered than they already are?

No not really? It's really expensive to craft Ripleys as it is, and this would just be a QoL thing not a buff.
