Here are the instructions to get sonic-pi to work on the Raspberry Pi you will also need to do a sudo apt-get update and a sudo apt-get upgrade
Sonic Pi v2.0 is in its final stages of development. When it is finally released this page will be updated to let you know and you'll be able to use apt-get on your Raspberry Pi to update to the latest version
However, if you wish to get hold of a pre-release right now, then you can follow these steps:
Download the following (temporary) link directly to your Raspberry Pi: http://sonic-pi.net/sonic-pi-RC11.tar.gz
For example, connect your Raspberry Pi to the internet and run wget http://sonic-pi.net/sonic-pi-RC11.tar.gz
Unzip the directory: tar -xvzf sonic-pi-RC11.tar.gz
Run ./sonic-pi/bin/sonic-pi
Enjoy the pre-release, and please report any issues here: https://github.com/samaaron/sonic-pi/issues
Read the latest edition of the Mag Pi for an intro article on Sonic Pi v2.0: http://www.themagpi.com/issue/issue-23/
If this is on Ubuntu you may need version 14.4 and follow instructions on the readme when you git clone also you will need to fix the utils.rb file the change is in green horacio@a93090a otherwise you will need to wait until the pull request has been merged

Hi Derek,
Thanks. I should have mentioned that I had followed those instructions and
downloaded as you mentioned in your reply.
when I run ./sonic-pi/bin/sonic-pi then it does open after a while and says
#Loading in the code window. When i delete that, after a while, and run an
example then there is no sound. I tried out different audio preferences too.
then if i quit and run sonic-pi again it then hangs saying waiting for
server... in the terminal.
I can post the output later when at my Raspberry Pi.
thanks for your help.

you haven't said you did the the upgrade please do both steps
sudo apt-get update and a sudo apt-get upgrade
you can also do an rpi-update if you have installed the January version of raspberian
if it still does not work well you could get your local linux group to look at it these where the step I took and it worked

Hi @dwstrang,
Sorry you're having issues. Please refer back to issue #58 and let me know if that doesn't solve your problems.
