Not in a rush to collect games to explore this format, but it's an interesting addition to the format history
Might show up more in the documentation at some point, who knows
Checking out the history of contemporary bsp engines could be a neat project in future too
Tho I'd like to avoid formats w/ no clear connection to Quake / Source
Genesis3D kinda threads the needle
It's possible that IdTech was referenced, source code being public (under GPL) in 1999
Wolfenstein, Duke3D & Doom are all relative to the history
But I'd make the argument that they don't use .bsp
files
Doom .wad
s & editors definitely show the heritage, but they're still different
And we haven't even scratched the surface of Triangle-based raster GPU development
Plenty of stuff with the U.S. Air Force & Flight-Sims etc.
I don't wanna get too sprawling tho
So for now I'm gonna return to MRVN-Radiant where I can
As well as chasing #21 to save space on my PC
from bsp_tool.
