Also, a couple months ago I pulled all the new books from librovox.

There are now 14,065 books vs 12,831 books.

The new hash is:
/ipfs/QmWZD6LzHePicDpQ41zf3HWWMfowRmxjkvZMwcdcNjLTzi

You could take a look at it and if you are happy, you could update the IPNS for the site.

Thanks again!

I posted in the other issue about starting a demo, but I've just tried your hosted version and found it not-unusable. This is interesting, and makes me want to reconsider using IPFS.

What do you think @him2him2, if this project should continue should we keep a demo version running by:
keeping a few books on Github pages or whatnot, where it doesn't cost anything
or keeping the hefty expense of 1 or 2 of us hosting them locally over IPFS, with all of the books but potential latency and timeouts?

An aside: they are adding books at an impressive rate(15,500 as of 2021-01-10).

Hi @smwa,

I have been messing around with the new Etherium Swarm(bee) network. Just for testing, last week, I uploaded a couple books to swarm to see if it would work.

Here is the URL: https://gateway.ethswarm.org/bzz/088aafa30f6819ea4396fa8be050ddb7f692e68385bf61d45df44f4db109ed3e/

Anyway, it seems very well through the swarm gateway. Things seem stable. It has been a week since I uploaded and it is still working fine.

After looking at this, I have been refactoring some of the code to accomplish the following.

  1. separate the media consumed by the website from the code that runs the website. Each book would be a container individually maintained and then linked to through json data document in the website.
  2. create a copy/backup of the internet archive data on swarm and use that as the source for the media for the website.

There is some coding to accomplish, but I am well on the way down that path. I can provide the code once it is working.

Thanks!!
Ron

This should all be resolved for http://wistfulbooks.com and https://wistfulbooks.com ! I've found a simpler solution that is hosted via github and works for all 15,000 books
