Shields causes problems during docking with stations about space-nerds-in-space HOT 5 CLOSED

Watch the graph on engineering. Just because you lowered shield power to zero, it still takes a while for them to actually lower down to zero. Maybe some sound effects/announcement would help make that clearer.

Also, how you dock is going to change, the current way is just a placeholder mechanism.

Soon (maybe tonight), you will have to "/hail" the starbase before requesting to dock (e.g. type "/hail sb-01" on comms, and you'll get some sense of what's coming. Typing "/help" on comms might also be instructive.) You might have already noticed those changes.

The new docking isn't really coded up yet though, nor even really thought through -- other than to know that the current way is just a stopgap to have a way at all to dock while the game is in development.

yeah, I've seen the /hail functions last night. Didn't dig too far into them as most weren't implemented yet.

There is now a shield indicator on comms screen. You don't have to guess when the shields are down.
