If I copy the file for sming to dev folder and try to run it I get this syntax error.

@ystrem I guess it's a windows issue. Can you tell me which version of Windows you have, Virtualbox and vagrant?

I'm sorry, of course I can. Windows 10, VirtualBox 5.10 r104061 and Vagrant 1.7.4

Yep you are right. I test it in ubuntu 14.04 in VMWare and no syntax error...

My wild guess is that your git client is configured to automatically add \r after pulling the code. Can you show me your git configuration? If you have hexeditor can you open the sming provisioning file in it and paste the HEX content?

@ystrem Go inside of the virtual machine and show me what is the output of the following command:
hexdump -C /opt/provision/project/sming/provision.sh
