If I understand this correctly, the thread deadlock situation may arise due to the internal resource management by the underlying tyrus client library. I'm not sure if the latest version of 1.x series resolves this but we haven't received this feedback apart from this issue yet.
I will keep this issue open for a while but we may close this issue in the future.
