Well it needs to run inside EventMachine, and it needs websocket support. What in thin stops it running under jruby?

Ah OK. Thin uses a C extension, which doesn't seem to compile out of the box in JRuby 1.7.3. From a quick browse around, it sounds like it is possible to run it, but it's not recommended.

Try this, it works fine with JRuby on Windows/Linux/Max out of box, just install the gem mailcatcher-jruby
It replaced Thin with Puma, left websocket unimplemented, and fixed much more with JRuby.

Closing this. We probably won't support jruby explicitly if thin doesn't work. The magic of mailcatcher is that it's a single process doing everything which requires eventmachine, and the easiest way to do web in eventmachine is thin.
