Actually you already can add @since *and* @version tags. Also @xfactor, 
@peanuts and @wiggliness.

Yes, I'm being serious.

You can add any custom tag you like to any doclet and the information will be 
available to your template. Let 
me give an example: say you add the following tag to your doclet:

/** @since 7 */

Now in the Sweet template you can display that like so:

<for each="s" in="symbol.doc.getTag('since')">
    <div>Since: {+s+}</div>
</for>

This will display: <div>Since: 7</div>

Notice that you could have several @since tags in a single doclet 
(theoretically), which is why you must loop 
over the result of symbol.doc.getTag('since') even if there is only one (or 
none) there.

Let me know if this isn't clear, but considerable effort has gone into making 
the template system easy to 
customize, precisely to allow users to add their own changes. For that reason 
I'm going to decline this issue, 
and hopefully, a user will send me a patch to accomplish this if it is wanted 
(hint hint).
