Since this commit: 2b94dd0, On-Demand Firebase SDK Auto-configuration is used by default. It will automatically get the appropriate firebase configuration if you use the firebase serve CLI command or firebase hosting. If you are using a custom domain name, you might need to revert this commit and manually give these properties when initialising the firebase app.
I'll update the documentation as soon as I can.
