You can't apply runs_before when configuring builders - that option is only available when defining builders. The correct way to express dependencies between different builders is to split them into targets. E.g. you could define a new target where only drift_dev runs and then add a dependency on that target from $default - that will ensure drift_dev runs first.

There's another challenge here though: To avoid every builder emitting its own source file, source_gen introduces a protocol where each builder emits a hidden file which are then (after all builders ran) combined into the final .g.dart file. So even if you change the builder ordering, code generated by early builders wouldn't be visible to those running later.

The documentation website contains a basic guide on how to set up builds so that drift runs so that other builders can see code generated by drift.
