your display could be different so change it and adjust brightness to your liking.

Same problem here, I'm on Manjaro 17.0.2 with GNOME 3.24.2 with Kernel 4.9.43-1-MANJARO. During the final installation process, I get these Warning message on Pamac: desktop-dimmer: directory permissions differ on /usr/share/applications/filesystem: 755 package: 644

After the installation I tried to open the app but I get a blank screen. And up to now I also can't quit the application..

Also running Redshift to change colour temperature of displays depending on time of day, it's possible this uses the same mechanism to alter display properties as Desktop Dimmer does which I can imagine might cause a conflict. Happy to do any testing that might assist.

Thank for all of your reports, which were really helpful. The issue indeed was due to an upstream issue with recent Electron releases (electron/electron#2170). Electron has been rolled back and the issue is fixed in the brand-new release.

@sidneys I can't, the screenshot won't get saved, after desktop-dimmer is on. But the screen gets all white, literally. The only things that show up are the menus by hovering the tray icons.

WoW. Same issue on latest 4.0.4-67. Lubuntu 18 here. Can't believe it's still bug after so many releases.

I've also got this issue, it's completely bricked my system. I'd suggest removing the Linux tag from the compatible systems list.
