I'm not much of a liquid expert but I believe the biggest impact is that currently liquid is expecting all tags to exist between with {% %}.
It's an interesting improvement, though.

Well with the new literal syntax that you added we now have precedent for this. I agree that the literal system should be worked into a kind of preprocessor. Also i prefer the {# #} style for comments, especially if Django went there.

Yeah, even though I agree that some tags need a shorthand alias, I really like the simplicity of the tag processing mechanism.
Having said that I'll try and come up with a plug n' play pre-processor sometime soon.
In the meantime I'll add the comment shorthand tomorrow or wednesday.
