tachiyomi doesn't use native-heap images. OOMs are avoided because we use the great subsampling-scale-image-view library that takes care of subsampling them when they are too big and loading regions with bigger resolution on zooming.

I included this library as an alternative decoder because Skia is unreliable on some JPG image formats.

Hmm, but there are some apps using this library just for the native-heap images. I know at least @inorichi does. Could you just make native-heap an option instead of removing it completely? Understandable if not, it may be extra work if you will not be using it.
