We request data from https://firms2.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/download/.
Currently, we are downloading the year data for each satellite, doing this because in this way we can filter it by its date and then clip it with the user area of interest (country or drawing), however, when using VIIRS-SNPP data, there are a lot of alerts and we are having memory issues when building the geodataframe and clipping to the AOI, is even worst if we use a complex clip geometry.
I've tried to use dask-geopandas and, at least we can manage the memory issues but the user will have to wait > 20 min to get the alerts, so I don't think this will be a good approach.
The second approach would be to only download year alerts for specific countries using the specific datasets, the drawback here is the different country names for each dataset and the inconsistency with sepal_ui.aoi
