@lencioni Are you sure that this code rendered the pipe character? When I try this locally, no pipe is rendered.
Since I don't think HAML has an effective way of disambiguating between the use of the pipe as text content versus multi-line indicator, it will always treat it as a multi-line indicator.
Perhaps there's room for a lint that warns you when you try to use a pipe on a single line this way?
