This has been suggested before. Hower, there is no way I know how to do this.
I'll keep my eyes open if I find a tool that does this on linux, and then link
to it.

I've applied your patch and added some preferences, so technically it's fixed -
thanks for the patch, Mathias.
I'm going to work with it a bit more, it would be nice to use a few images as
an animation and perhaps SVG files as the image source.

(however, it shows an additional distinct process (named "-c", along with
"Keyboard Status Monitor") in taskbar on-a-second each time when mouse click is
highlighted - it appears and disappears immediately)

Also, it cannot find mouse indicator image {{{glib.GError: Failed to open file
'/usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/keymon/themes/apple/mouse-indicator.svg'
: No such file or directory}}} when using {{{---theme=apple}}}
