Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reproduce this.

How did you install, it looks like you installed the debian package, is that 
correct?

The other possibility is that you are missing some dependency that I already 
have 
installed on my machines.

Perhaps try:
sudo apt-get install python-gtk2
sudo apt-get install python-dbus
and/or
sudo apt-get install python-gobject

yes, I have installed with the debian package.

no, I have not missing the dependencies you listed. All package, python-gtk2,
python-dbus and python-gobject are already installed on my system.

I think I know what the problem is..
The debian build installs into the python 2.5 folders and you may be running 
python 
2.6 or greater.

If you install from the zip you should have fewer issues, I would think.
