Should the button say.
Save draft? Or Save to "Preparation" state

What was the main problem? @VinnerePettersson
What "submit" button did the user mention? The big orange "Submit project" or another button?

Preview of nodes is now disabled.

VinnerePettersson avatar VinnerePettersson commented on August 17, 2024

No - the small save button next to preview, under the form to be submitted.

Issue was is "save" = "submit"? Vad händer när man sparar - kan man göra ändringar efter, osv.

I think this can be solved by a brief help text next to the "Save" button. Something like:

"Saves the project/form as a draft. You can edit again before submitting."

Also, my user thinks that the Save button should occur twice: Once at the top, once at the bottom of the form.

What about calling it "Save draft"?

jhagberg avatar jhagberg commented on August 17, 2024

Why on the top?

It is easier to not change the default drupal label of the topic.

pekrau avatar pekrau commented on August 17, 2024

My user filled in the data, scrolled back up the page checking everything, and came to the top, then nearly clicked on some link, which would have lost the input. He had to scroll all the way down again to click Save.

Also, if the Save is near the top, with its appropriate explanation, then user will understand better how it works.

Instead of changing button label, add a help text just to the right of it?

VinnerePettersson avatar VinnerePettersson commented on August 17, 2024

Hm... If it is difficult to change drupal labels, we'll need explanation in a pop-up, or similar.

Argh, Per, you were faster :)
Guess it all depends on user's previous experience with web-pages. Can we make the button smaller and put it both on top and the bottom then?

Also (this is my input) - I find it a bit annoying that one does not stay on the same page after saving. My third user defined it as "nerve wrecking" :)

Okey that seems reasonably. I can add save buttons on top.

@VinnerePettersson Please open a new issue about the redirection. Its a easy fix. But lets make a issue out of it and we can comment and decide there.

VinnerePettersson avatar VinnerePettersson commented on August 17, 2024

sure!

from portal.

jhagberg avatar jhagberg commented on August 17, 2024

Okey

button now says Save draft
And are above and bellow form

I also have a new button called "save and edit"
That saves the order and returns to edit mode again.

So users can update a node and then save and continue to edit.

Looks good!

Except: When I tried "Save and Edit", it did save, but then went to the "View" mode for that page! Not the "Edit" mode!

I don't think the "Save and Edit" really is necessary. It is good enough with "Save draft", if the user decides to edit again, then clicking the "Edit" tab is simple and clear enough, I think.

Strange worked for me at first....

from portal.

pekrau avatar pekrau commented on August 17, 2024

i did it for an existing order, which I edited again. Maybe it works for an order form that is being created afresh? But not for existing order forms?

from portal.

jhagberg avatar jhagberg commented on August 17, 2024

No it do not work at all.. I need to check

from portal.

pekrau avatar pekrau commented on August 17, 2024

Don't spend too much time on it. I think the "Save draft" is quite sufficient, especially now that one comes to the "View" mode page for the order form. That's exactly right, I think.

Module missmatch... Now it works again but I need to fix the label on the button

I have fixed it. I think :) 👍
