vd -P options-global -b -o visidata_options.tsv

where -P is alias for --preplay

from visidata.

They should all be able to be set via the CLI. The disp/color options aren't shown in --help because there are so many of them and they're cosmetic, so they're almost always set in visidatarc. But you can set them via the CLI as well.

Thanks. I learned something about Visidata I didn't know before.

The problem I was trying to solve (as trivial as it is) was to be able to quickly output the options that are listed in --help to the command line in a way they could be parsed easily into something like fzf tool to explore and quickly select options from the command line.

The current --help output is difficult to do so because of the line wrapping in the description.

I managed something with some convoluted regular expressions.

However it would be a lot easier if I could get a tabular format, instead of resorting to regex.

So, I dived into how the help text and the man file is generated, saw it was coming from the Options sheet but there currently wasn't a way to show which ones were available as command line options (and now I know they are all available at CLI)

Why not just save the relevant columns from the options sheet as a .tsv?

A very good and practical point, and I think I will do that.

It occurs to me that I was laser focused on trying to get the information from commands alone.

And I realise now that even if the Options sheet did have the information I wanted, I dont think there is a way to export it out of visidata without a replay/playback file.

Unless there is something like; vd +:global_options:: -b -o visidata_options.tsv
