"You must set the API key as an environment variable apikey for the productive Cloud Foundry environment. You need to do this manually and just once, by running the following command in your terminal: cf set-env risk-management-srv apikey your-api-key.
Make sure, that you replace "your-api-key" with your API key from the API Business Hub.

With the following command: cf env risk-management-srv you can also verify that the key has been set as user-provided variable.

Run the following command: cf restart risk-management-srv
This ensures that your environment variable change takes effect in the application."

if you are running into this issue after the deployment, then @janestrong answer will solve your problem.

Even if you have set it locally to the .env file, you also have to restart the app with cds watch.

I had the same issue with the empty apikey when running locally. Restarting the cds watch solved the problem. Thank you.
