I improved customer experience at the Indian Market located in Milpitas using Lean Six Sigma techniques. The primary focus of this project was to reduce customer checkout time, managing stockouts and excess of inventory and optimize the store layout. A DMAIC approach was followed for the process improvement. The checkout time was reduced to 18% using lean techniques like root cause analysis, FMEA, Hypothesis testing, Value stream mapping and SIPOC. I provided a forecasting method to avoid stockouts and excess inventory which will aid in reduction of wastage and enhance sustainability within the supermarket and increase profits.
Data Analysis and Visualization Of LifeExpectancy based on WHO data. Summarized the data for developed and developing countries. I used histograms and scatter plot to get clear visualization of factors like income, schooling, immunizations. Built a model using linear regression and performed residual diagnostics to check for correctness of the regression assumptions. Based on the analysis, schooling turned out to be the most affected factor on life expectancy.
Vikings Division had experienced a loss of profit due to not meeting their demand on time (i.e., backorders) and maintaining high work-in-process (WIP) inventory resulting in long production times. This was due to many factors including inaccurate forecasting leading to incorrect production quantities of different types of products, running inappropriate lot sizes, and using no formal scheduling methodology. The objective of the project was to aid the Vikings Division in better planning their operations for the future. This can be achieved through establishing a formal method for forecasting the demand, planning the production based on BOM and capacity, and scheduling the production of the different product types. In essence, streamlining the overall operations at the Vikings Division in an effort to increase the chances of meeting the required product demand(s) on time.
