Thanks for reporting! The problem is that the crates.io version contains no Cargo.lock, probably because I didn't use an update to date nightly when publishing (cargo filtered out Cargo.lock files when publishing until recently). So the problem is that the bootloader tries to use newer versions that contain breaking changes (semantic versioning does not apply to alpha versions).

I haven't used that option in a while, but I'd imagine it's not an issue anymore because the bootloader's dependencies aren't in alpha anymore and aren't updated with breaking changes as frequently.
