We could add a perma-unstable -Z
flag which switches from static inclusion via include_bytes
(html/static_files.rs
) to dynamic inclusion to improve this workflow.

What do you mean by "Don't check-in"?
from rust.
Oh I thought the generated files were checked-in to git and that's why you edited the wrong file. What is it that you edited?

I run x.py doc std
and then edit the generated main.js
(which I unminify) in the build doc directory. It's much faster this way since I don't have to rebuild the documentation every time I make a change. I do the same with CSS. Problem is that I forgot to copy some changes. 😅

I'm not sure if it's worth having such an option but could be worth a try.

Could add a custom x
command to assemble a standard library doc folder with symlinked main.js etc.

That would be convenient indeed. 👍
