And I think we'd better provide docs for all supported platforms, as some modules especially FFI-related are quite different for platforms.

The docs are already installed when you install Rust, is there still a large advantage to also having a separate link when you get them already anyway?

That doesn't include the Book (I think?), an offline copy of that would definitely be useful.

An archive of the library docs might still be handy if e.g. you want to just have the docs without actually installing Rust, perhaps because:

  • wanting to install the docs on some non-development machine; perhaps making a reference on a smartphone?
  • not allowed to install software on this machine, but still want to write some code here
  • "hmm, a very lengthy build process for rustc: let's see what things look like first"
  • wonky distro packaging

But downloading the book would be the most beneficial. :-)
