Would you, perhaps, include this oneliner of information in the beginning of the Readme?
The first thing many people look at is the activity stats and if there's none we start suspecting terminal illness. A short explanation tht the project is not dead but waiting would greatly help to prevent this bad feeling.

The project is not dead, just been on a long hiatus while we wait for both Matrix and Rust to mature in certain areas. You can find more details at ruma/ruma#189. Thanks for your interest!
