Not well documented, but try the following:

client = SPARQL::Client.new 'http://dbpedia.org/sparql/'
query = client.select(count: {uri: :c}).where([:uri, RDF.type, RDF::OWL.Class])

query.each_solution do |solution|
  puts solution.inspect
end
