My take is that the quantity that's being described as NAPOT is the number of pages in the range. With that mindset, NAPOT is arguably more descriptive than Umbrella--which, while a fine alternate name, only suggests that the range consists of multiple pages, not necessarily a power-of-2 number of them.

I lean towards the same view as Andrew's. Umbrella is a bit nebulous. Use of the term NAPOT in this context originated from the idea that a napot region of multiple 4 KiB pages consists of a power-of-two number of 4 KiB pages (for powers of two starting from 2^1).
