When these commands are run using npm run foo n looks in node_modules/.bin anyway. So this shouldn't be needed.

@winkerVSbecks npm automagically puts node_modules/.bin into PATH when scripts are run https://docs.npmjs.com/misc/scripts
If you depend on modules that define executable scripts, like test suites, then those executables will be added to the PATH for executing the scripts. So, if your package.json has this:
