when you're in the scope (inside the knob-controller), you can set the value using $scope.value;
it should reflect the change instantly.

actually the code somehow requires a button or any other event to fire.

i managed this by setting the $scope.value from the controller and then manually triggered a
document.querySelectorAll("#fakeProgressButton")[0].click()
on a hidden button
<input type="hidden" id="fakeProgressButton" ng-click=""/>
this is the simplest way for me to get this to work atm.
