This seems to be an issue only on a Mac - debugging works fine on a Linux system.

Actually, the problem seems to relate to old versus new versions of RStudio (not anything to do with Mac vs. Linux). It seems that it may arise because recent (all?) versions of RStudio rely on a particular format of the structure describing a "context" in R. This structure (which isn't supposed to be visible outside the interpreter) has changed in pqR. Fortunately, there's no really fundamental reason for this change, so I'll try changing it back, and see if that fixes the problem...

Changing the RCNTXT structures does seem to have fixed the problem. This fix is in development branch 29, and will be in the release that is coming soon.

Now fixed in pqR-2014-09-30.
