@meker12 Have you heard of anyone else having trouble with the auth call on Windows?

I haven't heard about this issue. However, I wonder if it's related to how the user installed cURL on Windows. I'll check around. We might want to add the link to installing cURL on Windows if we don't already have it.

OK-- so here's the info that is missing: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203691436-Installing-and-using-cURL#curl_win

So the character we have to indicate line continuation / doesn't work on Windows. You have to replace it with a ^.

Second: if an example contains JSON data, move the data to a file before running the example. The following sections give more details.

Thanks, @meker12! Guess we need to update the common auth section with a link to these instructions about using curl on windows.

I created an issue to update the common content. Also, the Mirantis folks showed an approach for single-sourcing that I want to try out with the glossary, with a plan to use it for other common content where applicable. Some of the Identity content would benefit from that approach.

Hey Catherine,

The "Move JSON data to a file” section of that file sounds exactly what they did to get by the issue in the end, sounds like that would cover the problem, didn’t manage to talk to any windows people today, with it being a friday and summit week its kind of like trying to get hold of someone over christmas..

Hi, Andrew,

Margaret Eker, the Identity writer, found this info: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203691436-Installing-and-using-cURL#curl_win

The plan is to add a link to this article in the common authentication section (used in all Rackspace API docs).

In your opinion, does this work to cover the problem found with using cURL on Windows?

Thanks,
Catherine

Link to common doc issue is https://github.com/rackerlabs/docs-common/issues/49.
Will update Cloud Files API docs with change to common docs when it is available.

I believe the update for this will come in with the file updates when we refactor these docs.
