I'm having a similar issue that I cannot figure out. I'm trying to do something like swannodette does here with the js-obj omitted:

(defn hidden [^boolean bool]
  (if bool
    {:display "none"}
    {:display "block"}))

I get the same weird html as @sgrove did above in the style attribute when calling the function like so:

(defn login-toolbar
  [{:keys [username] :as app} owner]
  (om/component
   (html [:ul.nav.navbar-nav.navbar-right.pull-right
          [:li.dropdown {:style (hidden (nil? username))}
           [:a.dropdown-toggle {:role "button" :href "#"} (str "Welcome, " username)
            [:span.caret]]
           [:ul.dropdown-menu {:role "menu" :style {:left 0}}]]])))

I'm thinking that it has something do do with html being a macro and the function call being rendered as html during compile-time. Would defining the hidden function as a macro be the way to make it work?
