more audio about quran_android HOT 17 CLOSED

I added Ibrahim Walk (English Only). I also wanted to add Basfar&Walk (Arabic+Eng), but the only problem is that 9 verses are missing. Should I add it and add a temp hack that would redirect to just Basfar for the missing verses?

Also, why isn't Ajami in the list? Is it due to 'copyright' related stuff? Bcs I noticed the two Ajami ones have a website next to them, not sure what that means though.

about 3ajami, not sure - i imagine it may be because of tajweed issues, but i am not sure (@hmaher ?) - we could add him (add the higher quality one).

regarding basfar and walk, i'll email the brother and ask him if he has those 9 ayahs.

Yes, I didn't add el Sheikh el Ajami because of tajweed issues.. sheikh el me3elki also has some issues but yet less than sheikh el ajami..

the brother said that they maybe messed up in the original - in worse case, we can get the arabic and english from quranicaudio.com (even under a different translation) and pull them out manually.

What do you mean by pulling them out manually? As in using a sound editing program to split the missing verses out of the entire surah recording? If so, what to do after pulling them out? Will he upload them to everyayah.com to fill in the missing ones?

Also, if you can notify him:
a) 4 of the missing files are not actually missing, they're just misnamed: 061011->061014 have actually been misnamed as 061061->061064. So if he can fix the names then only 5 ayahs would be missing instead of 9.
b) Not sure if he knows, but also some of the non-missing ones seem to be messed up in the original. E.g. 061009 and 061010. Not sure if there's more, those are the only 2 I tested.

The more I look into it the more worried I get.. after parsing the reportedly missing verse (009093) I find out that:

File Name <> Actual Content
009095 <> 009095
009094 <> 009094
009093 (File Missing)
009092 <> 009093
009091 <> 009092
...
...
009001 <> 009002

So basically, the file names are shifted by -1 relative to the actual content all the way upto Ayah 93 (the missing file), after which it is fine (94 onwards). Which means the missing file is actually the first Ayah, not 93.. the rest is just misnaming, possibly due to confusion with the Sura not having Basmallah.

Sura 006 & 013 seems fine though; done parsing the missing 3 Ayahs for those.. onto 037 now - hopefully the rest are fine..

Suspicion dropped after doing 006 and 013, but now it's back up again with 037 :S ..this really needs some testing!

So, issue for 037 is:

• 037__177__ - Everything is Fine:
  • Arabic recitation of 177, followed by..
  • English translation of 177
• 037__178__ - Beginning of misalignment:
  • Arabic recitation of 178 is skipped and English translation of 178 starts off the file instead, followed by..
  • Arabic recitation of 179 ends the file
• 037__179__ => 037__181__ - Misalignment problem continues
  • File starts of with English translation of [this] Ayah, followed by..
  • Arabic recitation of [this.NEXT] Ayah
• 037__182__ - File missing (bcs this is the last Ayah, and the Arabic recitation for it was already played at end of previous file. Consequently, the English translation for 182 is missing)

I'll just reparse 178=>182.. that'd complete what the site reports as 'missing' but I'm a bit suspicious of the validity of the rest of the 'non-missing' files.. I think someone should really thoroughly test this. 'Crowd sourcing' would make it much easier if possible

I still really DO think this must be included if the English only one is to be included; the recitation is (tabarak Allah) very beautiful, and the translation follow up is a MUST, if the person doesn't know Arabic, in order to get the full effect.

I just looked into the FULL file (i.e. before it's split into verses) and turns out the Arabic recitation of Ayah 178 is actually missing from the original and the English translations for both 177 & 178 follow each other, meaning it's not that fault of whoever split it, it's the fault of whoever merged Basfar and Walk into 1 file. So I can't even extract 178 since Arabic is missing from original.

What I'll do though inshaAllah, is extract the English at least, then download the Arabic for Basfar directly from everyayah, then merge the two to form 037178.

..like I said, needs extensive testing.

SubhanAllah! Turns out it was probably not the fault of whoever combined Basfar and Walk either, it seems this problem dates back to prehistoric ages; 037178 seems to have been missing from the Original-Arabic-Only-Basfar, but someone noticed it and patched it up with another low quality recording.

Have a look for your self (well, have a hear :D):

..notice 178 is the odd one out? It seems to be the same one as this mp3quran.net one..

So back to the original issue, what do you think the best thing to do is? Either way, for now I'll just use that low quality one, and if you have a better idea it hardly takes any time to change...

Just looked at versebyverse website, one of the updates he mentions (Sunday, 01 April 2012) is that the Basfar+Walk has been fixed. So I guess we can add it now.

He just missed one fix, which is that Al-Tawba 1-92 are shifted and need to be renamed to 2-93. I'll email him regarding that.
