I'm not against making it official, however I'm a bit concerned about its usage for novice users.
AFAIK for this plugin to work, user will have to install a seperate Jackett program/service. I.e. it is not a plug-n-play type of plugin.

  1. What happens when Jackett is absent (or setup incorrectly)? Will it have negative effects?
  2. Do we have a guide (or a way) to tell users that for this plugin to work, the user needs to install Jackett?
  3. What if the user needs help/trobuleshooting for installation? I hope they won't flood over qbt issue tracker.

In the current implementation the only side effect is you see a message in the result list:

We can put a link to the wiki to show the user how to configure it.
Anyway, other search engines work if Jackett is not configured and you can also disable Jackett.

The is a little guide here => https://github.com/hannsen/qbittorrent_search_plugins#jackett--jackettpy
We can complete and move it to this repo.

I hope they don't. That can happen with other plugins as well. If the message in 1) is clear I don't see a problem here.

I have nothing against Jackett (I'm using it as well) but if something is the default part/plugin of the torrent client then it should be part of the installation or at least part of the download... If you install the client which then tells you that it's default part is missing and needs to be installed - seems sketchy...

That's cool!
Also it would be nice if the message could be more user friendly, for example: "(Optional) Jackett server not found, click "Go to description page" button to see how to set it up".

We can put a link to the wiki to show the user how to configure it.

👍
It should be possible to make "Go to description page" of that message points to the wiki entry.

In Jackett wiki entry, we can put links to this repo issue tracker (or to forum).

@ngosang does Jackett show seeds, leechers and size? Does it support categories?
