At the very least, would it allow us to change the input parameters, for example in a map node. That would already be a step forward....so the topology of the pipeline doesn't change but it can run with different function parameters? I think this is a great idea in principle, if I am understanding it correctly.

This seems out of scope for this to me.
However I see the value here and can imagine a number of useful UI improvements around click-and-drag interfaces. This might be something that you all want to handle outside of this library in a separate project?

Or, more broadly, if this project is going to start engaging in GUI elements then there would need to be a comprehensive plan for how we handle GUI things in streamz, along with an appropriate level of dedicated effort. I'm -1 to adding GUI piecemeal to this project for maintenance reasons.
