Have a look at the accuracy-test branch to see how testing can be modified to account for python versions. Current testing is very much independent of that (we're squashing tax logic bugs), but ideally we'd want to combine the two forms of testing in one suite.

I feell like we should be very conservative in the use of Python "features", so that if we want to use one of the several Python compilers available, we can test them easily, and use one if we wish. When I was young, programmers exhibited great pride in the portability of their code across vendors and OSs. This program doesn't do anything so complicated that it needs features beyond the most basic.
