Of course it would be nice to have IE8 support on board, but I must admit that I do not have the time to figure this out in detail. However, I appreciate any patches like the above!

I have now looked more into supporting IE 8.
I think it would require some pretty major changes to ByteBuffer.js because it depends so much on the typed array API. IE 8 only supports defineProperty on DOM objects... which means it is not possible to override the array access operator, which sadly makes it impossible to write an IE 8 shim for the typed array API.

I think it would require some pretty major changes to ByteBuffer.js ...
After some more investigation, I don't think the changes required are actually that major. I will try and submit a pull request so you can at least see what is needed to support IE 8, whether you merge it or not.
