tsdb/head_append.go: func (a *headAppender) Append()
Perhaps this would be a reasonable sanity check:

	//Add a maxvalid time check, set it to 24 hours in the future, relative to the current time
	//This is to prevent samples from being added to the head that are too far in the future
	//check against the actuall current time.Now() + 24 hours
	//if the sample is too far into the future, return an error

	if t > time.Now().Add(24*time.Hour).Unix() {
		a.head.metrics.outOfBoundSamples.WithLabelValues(sampleMetricTypeFloat).Inc()
		//custom error message: too far into the future
		return 0, fmt.Errorf("sample is too far into the future: %w", storage.ErrOutOfBounds)
	}
