The LHOST variable is changed that is why you are getting the invalid error. In the first case you are asking the PS script to pull down the stage from 12.34.56.78 while the handler's LHOST is having 172.31.44.157

Quick response, thanks! Sorry, I should have clarified a bit more.
12.34.56.78 is the external IP address (modified for privacy ;) of the server which is running metasploit handler, and is also acting as an http server hosting the Invoke-Shellcode.ps1 script. 172.31.44.157 is the interal IP address of that machine on the network.
I'll try modifying the LHOST of the handler as suggested though and let you know what happens.

Ah, correct you are! Switching LHOST as recommended did the trick. Not sure how I flubbed that one. Thanks again.
