If the plan is to move everything to the plv8 namespace, then I think we should 
just do it straight away. Maybe we could provide a compatibility function that 
could restore the old names (and could be called from startup code).  Having 
some function names in global, some in plv8, and some in both is confusing, and 
needs to be fixed ASAP.
