What about the classic case with macros and parenthesis?
#define SQ(a) a*a
return SQ(3+3); // 3+3*3+3 (= 15)
#define SQ2(a) (a)*(a)
return SQ2(3+3); // (3+3)*(3+3) (=36)
Or a more typical case with Pythagoras
#define SQ(a) a*a
return sqrt(SQ(x2-x1)*SQ(y2-y1)); // sqrt(x2-x1*x2-x1 + y2-y1*y2-y1)
