What does everyone think about the current status of our narrative docs? Where do we need more of them?

I'm going to close this since we've made a lot of progress in getting our narrative documentation started, and this issue has been superseded by more recent issues like #296, #297, and #298 that request narrative documentation for specific subpackages.
