For posterity, I was able to get it working like this:

Buffer = require('buffer').Buffer
EventEmitter = require('events').EventEmitter

class BufferStream extends EventEmitter
    constructor: (buffer) ->
        @data = new Buffer buffer
        super()

    pipe: (destination) ->
        destination.write @data
        destination.end()
        @emit 'close'
        @emit 'end'
    pause: ->
    resume: ->
    destroy: ->
    readable: true

Should have read the stream docs, before I posted.

However, you guys might consider supporting buffers natively!

Why don't you just use the Stream API for this?

var Stream = require('stream');

// Create a new stream instance
var buffy = new Stream();

// Pipe it to the client
buffy.pipe(client);

// Write the data
buffy.end(buffer);
