Ah, GO111MODULE needs to be set for OS-wide installations.

Sorry, @Southclaws I got the same error while trying to build this from source. I am not familar with GOLANG so please excuse my ignorance.

Set GO111MODULE:

export GO111MODULE=on;

And don't run go get from inside $GOPATH (~/go/src)

Then go get will work.

It's an annoying side effect of the 1.11 modules change in Go.
