I worked it out. For some reason, when I switched to getting the token via paypal_sdk.openIdConnect.tokeninfo.create({code:auth_code},cb), everything started working. It's super weird that the other way would result in a 404 when getting the userinfo.

@HoraceShmorace we will definitely take improving documentation as one of the things one of the things we need to work on. In the meantime, if you feel improving it in particular locations would clarify it for others, please feel free to send in a pull request as well.
