In my splash.xml,

<layer-list xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:id="@+id/layer_list" >


    <item
        android:drawable="@color/colorSky"/>

    <item>
        <bitmap
            android:gravity="center"
            android:src="@mipmap/ic_launcher"/>
    </item>

</layer-list>

I changed bitmap src file to a drawable file that is in png format not in xml format
like this drawbles/ic_launcher.png
