I do agree that the current docs do have quite a high barrier to entry for contributing to them. While creating my PR it took me a bit to get RST down enough to actually be able to make changes that were fast. I think having a more robust and centralized wiki would aid in helping the community, especially if a hard fork is coming in the future.
After the discussion on the Discord I looked around and found something called Wiki.js. It looks pretty powerful and would be useful to both sides of the git party since it does support syncing, even bi-directionally, with a git server. That way people could edit on the wiki itself using the wiki's built-in editors and people who are more comfortable with git can still use those tools to make modifications to the wiki.
It looks like it supports a decent subset of Markdown as well as full HTML for those that want a bit more control out of the article. Although I don't have much experience with wiki software so I'm not sure if this bit of software is lacking in features.
